Where it all happens

Shugborough Hall - Start Point

Our starting point for the TRENT100 challenge will be on the edge of the Shugborough Hall Estate.  Shugborough Hall is a stately home near Great Haywood, Staffordshire, England. The hall is situated on the edge of Cannock Chase, about 4 miles east of Stafford.

Our meeting point for breakfast and a very short walk to the start of your adventure will be the Clifford Arms in Great Haywood.  This is a great traditional village pub with loads of history dating back to the 17th century.

Anchor Caves - Overnight Stop
TRENT100

Photo courtesy of Steven Sanders. Just an awesome place the Anchor Caves are a stones throw from Trent Adventures your place of rest at the end of a long paddle on day one.

The sandstone outcrop once formed part of the banks of the River Trent and the caves were formed by the action of the river on the rock. The course of the river has altered and left the caves opening onto a backwater pool.

Trent Adventure are a great Canadian Canoe hire business situated in the perfect location for your overnight stop. Located on Poplars Farm in Twyford, Barrow Upon Trent.  Whilst there will be no luxuries on site you will have hot food, drink and camping in either bell tents or your own.

As you take the right hand bend of the river to paddle the final half mile stretch you will hear and see the mighty Nottingham Riverside Festival. Thousand of people line the banks listening to live music and arts, watching the dragon boat racing and ready to cheer you home.   Here at the finish line pick up your finishers rewards, eat great food, celebrate and enjoy the after-party.
